Navigate the Outdoor World of Learning!

Programs for Student Groups

Working outside the boundaries of traditional classroom environments, Terracentric offers year round adventure based outdoor education experiences designed to complement the valuable work of teachers and other group leaders.

In our educational programming we emphasize ‘learning by doing’ and work to engage all the senses in fun, challenging, and meaningful ways. Interpersonal Skills, Health Promotion, Outdoor Education and other core subjects all benefit from an adventure based approach to learning.

All of our programs use a unique blend of challenging initiative tasks, outdoor activities, certification and first-rate instruction. Be amazed as transformations in your students take place. Over the years, we have noticed that shy students tend to shed inhibitions, new strengths are discovered as trying new things in a supportive environment heightens confidence and helps form bonds through shared experience.   Challenges are overcome and students learn leadership, teamwork and initiative skills in ways not possible within the confines of a classroom.  Our programs are well known to enhance self-esteem and leadership qualities while deepening a connection to outdoor pursuits, active healthy living and a respect for the fragility and beauty of the environment.

Terracentric’s Outdoor Education programs provide young people with positive place-based outdoor programs that help develop key skills while creating memories to last a lifetime.

We are proud of our wide range of educational partners who regularly choose Terracentric programs for their classes.  For more than 20 years Terracentric has been a leader in the design and delivery of Outdoor Education curriculum for kindergarten to grade twelve.

Our clients include: public, private and independent International, francophone and French immersion and schools, as well as University and College groups from across Canada and overseas, First Nations youth gatherings, homeschool groups and leadership groups.

What is Adventure Learning?

Adventure Learning is a branch of outdoor education that focuses on intra- and inter-personal development. Trained facilitators use a process that presents of a series of increasingly difficult kinesthetic and cognitive activities that challenge personal and group limits within a supportive environment.

Our Educational programs are highly adaptable to your groups needs. Elementary, High School and International students have all participated in our stand-alone workshops and regular programs. Limited only by the imagination we can provide your students with an outdoor adventure program or an indoor experience that uses our Terracentric Adventure Learning Kit (TALK).

Educational Adventure Programs are ideal ways to make learning even more meaningful. Activities are structured in such a way that participants perceive the risks to be high, while in fact they are much lower and more acceptable as a medium for encouraging functional change and growth. Self-imposed limitations are overcome and turned into abilities, providing tremendous learning opportunities.  The facilitators help participants to reflect on the experience and make applications to real life situations.

  • After the experience many participants indicate an increased sense of trust for themselves and for their group members.
  • Having FUN can provide untold benefits.

Effective team members need exceptional leaders.

Building the leadership capacity in students is key to developing young people who can adapt to and create change. Leaders need to be able to identify and act on opportunities, while working with the strengths of the whole team.

Terracentric workshops will help your students learn how to communicate, motivate, and manage change. Our facilitators use practical experiences in working the group through existing and anticipated challenges in leadership. Through action-packed activities they will improve their negotiating skills, their creative capacities, and their ability to understand and influence each other and the world around them.

"Mere participation in an adventure experience may not teach you anything; it is what is done with that experience that makes it a learning."

What our guests are saying about us...

"I have been in over 20 countries and 49 US states. Our guide, Simon, made sure this was a trip to remember. Perfect weather and water conditions. Christine(s) (hint: there are 2) were wonderful, friendly and very professional. I am vegan and Christine, the owner, went out of her way to make sure I had a great meal. Homemade foods from almond pate, a delicious remoulade, an olive tapenade, and topped off with cookies. I literally had the trip of a lifetime and would recommend this journey and Terracentric very highly."
