Calling all birders and budding naturalists! This tour takes you on an exploration of some of the islands of the Salish Sea, with a focus on the dynamic and distinct ecosystem of Mitlenatch Island. Nicknamed the “Galapagos of the Georgia Strait” this island is a nesting colony, home to 30,000 nesting gulls, cormorants, and others species of sea birds. Otters, seal and sea lions also make their home here.
After circumnavigating the island by boat, we will disembark to explore the spectacular variety of spring and summer wild flowers, which include many native species and even prickly pear cacti and visit the bird blind. On our 6 hour tour, our shore time concludes with a delicious homemade lunch, and once back on board our route takes us by Twin and Cortes Islands, Desolation Sound and Copeland Islands Marine Park. Beautiful at all times of year, but May & June are best for wildflowers.
6 hour tour includes option of adding a lunch for $22+ GST per person.
We are happy to accommodate different diets and requests to our tour menu whenever possible. Because of the time and resources it takes to plan and prepare, there may be an additional $5 + GST/ person charge incurred in order for us to accomodate certain menu requirements. Please ensure you communicate to our office any allergies, dietary restrictions, or strong preferences at the time of booking.
